Sildegapet do 'well' in first season

WARNING------Non VM press release

Sildegapet have only done 'well' in their first season in division 2 according to the owners. With three matches to play of their first season, Sildegapet FC are currently in 5th position, 6 points clear of 6th and only three behind 4th. However, despite having made the second round of the Challenge Cup, progressing from a tricky group including fourth seeds Eds Madmen, before being defeated by Dynamo Groby in the last 16 and a quarterfinal appearance in the Trophy, beating on their way Premier League side Ratby Bandits over the two legs, the owners still wanted more. Following a disappointing 2-1 home defeat to MBCR which saw the whites lose their home record of never being defeated at the Cottage in a league fixture the owners fired the manager and promptly replaced him.

Despite a change of personnel, the tactics did not change and the whites continued to grind down the clock in their following matches. Despite a slip up by fourth side MBCR the whites failed to capitalise, drawing 0-0 with Manly Town.

Sildegapet have clearly had a good start to their time in the Pusbus leagues but with cash tight they are going to have to loan in a few more players at the beginning of next season if they are to launch a title challenge. With Carrin, their main striker gone, the whites would be in a dire position.

However, our congratulations go to Anthony Town who have all but secured the division two title and certainly promotion. Meanwhile, in division 1, the owners would prefer it if Dogs Athletico be finally halted in their title charge or else they may be spending their money on hats rather than players at the end of this season following a bet with a fellow owner.

We look forward to our season round up in a few days time and certainly look forward to the new season with anticipation. But if they are to win the league, their tactics need to change as they go. But more on that later.
