MLS Dream comes true

The dream of Trufflers United fans across the world has finally come true, as last seasons 2nd placed finish in Division 2, USA, resulted in the clubs promotion to Division 1 for the first time through official league position measures

Hazwoo Watezini, the clubs manager for the last 7 years, had this to say:
"Obviously we're all absolutely delighted. It's been a long, tough journey but I can safely say I've enjoyed every minute. One thing I can assure you of is that this is just the start of something big, not the end of our aims"

Club captain Odysseus Deligoris led the charge from centre back, and added that the entire experience of promotion was "simply surreal". The Greek rock at the back played all 35 games last season, and was delighted to seal a 3 season extension earlier this week.

The fans voted legendary maverik Gondikas Mavridou as their player of the season, as the striker banged in 24 goals and 4 assists during one of the most remarkable seasons ever at the Trench. Uuno Niskala was once again extremely reliable at the back, and Sammy Magagula up top offered able support to Gondikas adding 10 goals and 11 assists. The sad news is that the trio above have announced their retirement from football for the end of this season, along with tricky Dutch winger Remko Wizzlepenning who has struggled with injury.

Juarez, Tome and Ferrado provided endless consistency down the left flank, proving one of the key strengths of the side. The trio have all signed contracts extending their stays at the Trench.

In the centre of the park Qin and Goodfield put in tireless performances throughout the season, while Jeanmarie was solid at the back.

To celebrate the move into the MLS, the board have decided to expand the iconic Trufflers Trench's capacity to over 40,400 in an expansion cost of a remarkable £24 million credits. The upgrade is estimated to hugely increase revenues in the long term, as well as providing a fantastic foundation for the club to improve their global brand.

With a high calibre squad, a new stadium and strong training facilities in place, there are rumours that Watezini still has some cash spare to consolidate his squad in the case of retirements to help maintain the clubs place in the MLS.

The season has started in a very positive manner, with the club managing to rack up 18 points from the first 13 games and the arrival of Kebalu Mbong being greeted in an enthusiastic way by fans of the club.

The fans are hoping for a strong finish to the season in what most people see as a new chapter for Trufflers United, with a turning point just around the corner with the retirements of Niskala, Mavridou, Wizzlepenning and Magagula in the books, however Watezini maintains that this is just the beginning of something special.

Over and out.
