Diament Garwolin

The Georgian Revolution

Diament Garwolin have now officially announced what had been rumoured for days among the fans: that from now on, the club is going to compete with a squad made mostly - and, in time, perhaps entirely - of players from Georgia.

This official press release confirms the fact that the Diamonds' manager, Lord Radz, is selling old squad members and systematically buying Georgians to replace them. We have already seen some senior players - notably Thorgeir Eyvindsson - leave the club to the disappointment of the fans.

However, it looks as though the money from these transfers has been intelligently invested in young, dynamic Georgians. The acquisition of Besarion Chokheli for 45,000C from TUBORG UNITET looks like a real bargain considering the 26-year old has already scored 7 goals in his first two games for the club!
Also, the explosive 16-year old offensive mid Alexandre Silagadze is on top form, recording 8 assists in as many games and even scoring a goal.

We have been able to get this statement from Lord Radz himself:

"I think the decision of the owners to make this change is mostly driven by their sympathy for Georgia and the Georgian people. I also think that the mentality of those people is based around freedom and fighting spirit, which is exactly what you need at a football club. On a side note, I can reveal that this "revolution" could, in time, open doors for matches, or even tournaments against other one-nation teams which would bring even more excitement to the game"

As Lord Radz said, it could be that Diament Garwolin will soon turn into an unofficial Georgian national team, and as such represent the country against teams like Dynamo Groby (unofficial Finland), Lithualiens FC (unofficial Lithuania) and Jaggy Thistle FC (unofficial Scotland). We'll just have to wait and see.
