Wow. What an amazing season for the Tynesiders, as Newcastle U FC not only won the Brazil cup (for the 4th time), but took the first league title in the club’s history.

It’s been an incredible season for the club. It has taken 4 years and a month to rise from a new VM team to league champions, also achieving a high ranking in VM of #6 in the same week, as well as a record number of 32,035 supporters to make the Sir Kevin Kegan Stadium a fortress in black and white for the Geordies. The team was also unbeaten in a run of 17 matches that took them to the two successes.

The league season has seen Newcastle take the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A with 21 wins and 3 draws, taking the title with 69 points and with a 10 point margin to second place Soolskiin https://www.virtualmanager.com/clubs/719564 who the Geordies also met in the cup final at Soolskiin’s Stadion. The league campaign also saw a golden boot for Newcastle’s star striker https://www.virtualmanager.com/players/10890647-hamid-mahmud, Mahmud netting an impressive 29 times. With 9 Man of the Match awards, Cuban international ‘keeper Javier Ramon Fors was yet again a key presence, the shot-stopper performing well in this season that saw many of the squad’s 30 somethings continue to fight against the ravages of the new ageing regime as the club’s trainers tried to counter the lowering of the players' abilities.

The cup final saw a 3-1 victory in front of 106,200 supporters, secured with a double strike either side of half time from Man of the Match Beore Green, the Englishman scoring 4 times in this season’s cup campaign.

Manager Rolf Bergström was delighted at the final whistle, joining the team in going over to the Newcastle fans and taking the plaudits from the loyal, away following. For Bergström and the team the season’s success also of course means a maiden campaign next season in the Super Cup, which Bergström said he was really looking forward to. “This year has been incredible, we won everything – so what more could we do? Our players really deserved this, the 2 trophies are a fantastic prize for our supporters and entry into the Super Cup is a beautiful bonus for us and our fans.“

David “two chins” Maguire was also a very happy Chairman, his club made an eye watering 16,200,000 credits in this unforgettable season. “Yes, what can I say? This is what we are all about, what our club is for, success and to bring happiness to our fans. The money will come in very handy for sure. We made 12.6m in ticket receipts, 5.8m from selling our Argentine ‘keeper Pace who was approaching 34 years old and 4.3m from milestone payments including from our rise to a top 10 VM ranking.“ Asked if this will be reinvested in the stadium or players, Maguire said he’d be sitting down with Bergström in the next few days. “Rolf already has a great squad and we have some good talent aged 28-30, but probably need to look at recruiting some players aged 24-27 so that we remain competitive over the next 10 seasons and can carry on bringing success to this amazing club.”
