Tutorial, tactics and match simulator

Bubbles, FC Sunnyvale Developer 21 March 2014, 17:31

This week we've gotten a few important things sorted.

Tutorial

The tutorial obviously isn't the most exciting feature for all of you who already play Virtual Manager, but it is still incredibly important that new users get off to a good start. That's why we've made a couple of adjustment to the progression of the tutorial, and added a new step where we arrange a friendly match immediately after you have set up your first line-up. Most of you have probably seen the newly added objective "Watch your first match" pop up this week.

Tactics editor

As I mentioned last week, we wanted to make it impossible to create certain invalid adjustments that would never be executed. Therefore we have removed the ability to make adjustments which contain more than one of the conditions "Someone is booked", "Someone is sent off" and "Someone is injured". There can now be only one of these conditions in the same rule, since having more of them would mean that all of the events would need to occur at exactly the same moment - which would never happen.

We have not edited your existing rules to remove any invalid ones, so you should check them yourself. If you are unsure about whether or not one of your rules is invalid, just try to create it again - if the editor does not allow it, that means it was invalid.

Match simulator

In our work with the tactics editor, we also found a few errors in the way adjustments are handled in the match simulator:

  • An error meant that adjustments with the condition "Someone is booked" and "Someone is sent off" frequently failed to be carried out.
  • An error meant that adjustments with the condition "Someone is injured" was sometimes not carried out if you had chosen "Anyone".

These bugs have now been fixed.

In addition, we implemented a fix that should prevent the player running with the ball from sometimes running past the goal and off the pitch.

Last week's improvements to throw-ins had the side effect that the player sometimes threw the ball a bit too far. The maximum length of throw-ins has now been slightly reduced.

Have a nice weekend!

That's all for this week. Have a nice weekend, everyone.
