Scouts

Some time ago we wrote a post about how a trainers attributes affected a training.
Today we will post another one of these threads, but about the scouts asses a players potential.

All players has a hidden potential number between 1 and 30, which determines how could they will train. Instead of showing these as numbers, we divide them into a category:

1 - 4 = Catastrophic
5 - 8 = Miserable
9 - 12 = Poor
13 - 15 = Below average
16 - 18 = Ok
19 - 21 = Reasonable
22 - 24 = Promising
25 - 27 = Formidable
28 - 30 = Enormous

Note: A players potential does not change. He is born with it.

When a scout has to assess the potential, we look up a table that contains a common potential assessment for all players. (* more on this table later).
The number is multiplied by a factor, which is a random number within a range, which is determined by the scout's attribute "potential assessment".

A scout with a potential assessment of 20, gives a range of +/- 4%
A scout with a potential assessment of 19, gives a range of +/- 7,8%
A scout with a potential assessment of 18, gives a range of +/- 11,6%

This means that a scout with 18 in potential assessment will look at a player with 10 in potential and assessment range from 8,84 to 11,16. The number is rounded to whole numbers.

If you want to know how much the rating can go past the categories, then it also depends on how close the player is to the upper or lower limit of his true category.

If you go by a scout with 19 in potential assessment , then the calculation will be the following:
- A player with a potential number of 25, placed in Formidable. The scout will asses him to be between 23 (Promising) and 27 (Formidable)
- A player with a potential number of 27, placed in Formidable. The scout will asses him to be between 25 (Formidable) and 29 (Enormous)

If you go by a scout with 18 in potential assessment , then the calculation will be the following:
- A player with a potential number of 25, placed in Formidable. The scout will asses him to be between 22 (Promising) and 28 (Enormous)
- A player with a potential number of 27, placed in Formidable. The scout will asses him to be between 24 (Promising) and 30 (Enormous)

Potential assessment table:
The scout will base his assessment on the table and not directly from the players' true potential numbers. The assessment table is used by all scouts, meaning it has nothing to do with the attributes of the individual scout.

Long story short:
If a player has between 1-25 trainings, the assessment is based on his training results. We have a system that does its best to calculate backwards, based on the information that is publicly available. There is no added randomness - the randomness comes from the training results themselves.
Between 26-40 trainings, the number is calculated based on the true potential number, with a small variation added.
After 40 trainings, you know the true potential number.
